“I’ve been called a bad mom. I’ve also been called an inspiration… When you put yourself out there, on social media and in real life, you find both ends of the spectrum. Those who love you, and those who don’t… (But) you are brilliant, and of high worth, and it’s time you start treating yourself that way. Join me in loving yourself, supporting others, and following your dreams.” – Ruth Lee, @baybayruth
I’m so honored and excited to bring you this special interview with my longtime friend, the beautiful Ruth Lee.
Ruth Lee experienced a crazy influx of social media followers after posting a heartbreaking, honest story about her difficulties with her body after giving birth via C-section to her daughter and the postpartum depression that followed. Her brave post has been featured in popular news articles, such as Daily Mail, Cosmopolitan, PopSugar, Little Things, and several more.
Since her post went viral, Ruth has continued to inspire her now 42,000 followers with makeup tutorials, sharing her meal plans, posting adorable pictures of her family, and writing blog articles. I am thrilled that Ruth has started an awesome series of workout videos you can easily do from home (or on the road, for you digital nomads). Most importantly, Ruth continues to share raw, honest, and courageous posts about her continued struggles with being a young mom and trying to keep up with life.
“I cannot tell you how important it is to continue to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. I’m proud of the woman I’ve become and that runs a hell of a lot deeper than make-up.” – Ruth Lee, @baybayruth
I have had the joy and privilege of sharing a friendship with Ruth since we were young girls back in Jr High School. We have shared the experiences of growing up, of battling depression and anxiety, of major losses in our lives, and trying to find “where we fit” in this world. It has been nice to have a friend like Ruth who has truly grown into an authentic version of herself, as we get to support each other in staying true to who we are really, not what we should try and be according to social media.
In this interview, you will learn about:
- Ruth’s battle with postpartum depression and learning about self love
- The importance of self care and healing
- Her fitness journey and how to follow along with her workouts
- How on earth we manage to do everything (spoiler: we don’t)
- Ruth’s love for all things beauty
- Living an authentic life on social media
Plus, enjoy our kirky, loving friendship as we dive into some deep issues we’ve experienced.
